Every Jack Rusell owner definitely knows the importance of jack russell training. But maybe, some jack russell owners are not sure of what training method works best for their pets.

This confusion is caused by various training methods aiming to help owners with their jack russell training. One of these methods is the crate training method. While some think that it is not a good idea to put their pets in a crate, they must realize that a crate is not a cage. A crate is more than just a cage made of plastic or steel wire. It provides comfort and safety and is a must-have tool when it comes to housetraining and traveling with pets.

Let's consider the dog's natural instinct to make or look for a den. To these four-legged creatures, the den is their haven where they are safe and comfortable regardless of the weather condition. Dogs are also known to keep their sleeping area, which is the den, clean as much as possible. This den instinct is influential in the housetraining process. Through crate training, your pet will quickly learn to eliminate on your specified spot at the same time develop regular potty schedule.

Crate training is also solution to chewing problems. Placing toys inside the crate will eventually teach them to chew only the toys that are provided instead of the valuable household items such as shoes, furniture, curtains and the likes.

Crates come in various styles. It could be made of durable plastic or wire which is often collapsible. Choosing the style of the crate is more on a personal choice but the size of the crate is another story. You have to choose one that is appropriate for your dog's size. It would be wise to buy a large crate that can accommodate a fully grown dog and partition it off until he grows into it to prevent him from eliminating on one side because there is still enough space for him to sleep on the other side.

To encourage your dog to use the crate, add something that he will find rewarding such as toys and treats. Just make sure that the toys are large enough for him to swallow. It is also a great idea to place a blanket or towel to create a soft and comfortable bed for your pet.

Never use crate to punish your pet. Remember, the crate is not a prison but their haven in which they are safe, comfortable and happy.
