The chickens only need a small door, but you will need a large one, or some kind of removable panel, so you can enter the coop for maintenance and such.

Chickens like to roost at night, so you need a roost big enough to hold all your chickens side by side. If you need more than one roost don't put them one over the other, or the chickens will be messing each other up.

The roost is about the size of a two by two, or two by four, both are standard sizes at the big home stores. They need to be as high in the coop as you can put them.

There are different methods for cleaning the coop. Some have containers on the ground. Others just have an access door, so they can rake out the coop on a regular basis. The floor should be dirt, as it is easier to clean and refresh.

On the outside of the coop, under a roof, you need to build a nesting area for the chickens. You usually only need half as many nests as you have chickens. Sometimes you need even less. Just make your area where you can add a few more nests as needed.

The nest area needs to be well off the ground and about the right height for you to reach in and get the eggs. Anywhere around fourteen to fifteen inches square, by a little less than a foot high, is a good size for nesting for one chicken.

Your chicken coop plan might have different measurements, but the sizes are not really that critical. A few inches one way or another makes little difference to a chicken.
