These get a 10 “bark rating” from our dogs!

Ingredients:

2 ½ cups Flour (white or wheat)
2/3 cup Rolled Oats (Quaker Oats works best)
¼ cup Wheat Germ
½ cup Brewers Yeast
¼ cup Canola Oil
¼ cup Honey (may substitute Molasses
1 cup Water
¾ cup Creamy Peanut Butter
1 tsp. baking powder

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350º. Combine dry ingredients using only 2 cups of
the flour.
Add oil, honey and water until well blended. On a floured surface, kneed
in the last ½ cup of the flour until thoroughly blended. Roll out
with a floured rolling pin to ¼” thickness. Cut out with a small
bone shaped cookie cutter. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 12 – 14
minutes. Cookies do not spread, so they may be placed close together. Remove
immediately from pan to a cooling rack lined with paper toweling.

Once all cookies have been baked, return all cookies to a cookie sheet
(you may lay them on top of one another, if necessary). Turn oven off,
and return all dog cookies to oven. Allow to sit in cooling oven for
at least 2 ½ hours, but preferably overnight for extra crunchy
bones. Don’t worry – they won’t burn! Store in a sealed container. Makes
7 – 9 dozen dog cookies, depending upon the size of you cookie cutter.

One batch lasts us for about a month, and they keep well during that time.
We would love to hear your experience with our recipe! Please note that
this recipe does not replace the needed nutrients of a well-balanced
dog food, and treats should only be given in moderation!
Enjoy!
