Discover The Key To Successful Dog Obedience Training

27 12:02:22
You now have a new addition to your family. You have brought home a beautiful, yet spunky new puppy or dog to love. Puppies are easy to love when they are new to the family; however, if you do not take the time to teach your dog basic dog training commands, you could begin to resent your dog. This is not fair to you or the dog. Simple dog obedience training can ensure you and your dog have a loving relationship for many years to come.

The key to successful dog obedience training is consistency. Being consistent in dog training is extremely important. Being consistent means doing the same things and enforcing the same rules each and every time. While the concept of consistency is a simple one, being consistent tends to be harder during everyday life.

Here is a "real life" example for you. Let's say you have made it a rule that your dog is not allowed in the living room. You have been working with your dog to keep him out by saying no and redirecting him to another place in the home. This will work most of the time, but if you intend to make this a rule, you need to follow through with these basic dog training commands each and every time he tries to go into the living room.

You may still be thinking that this is simple and you can do it. Of course, you can do this, but it will take some commitment on your part. What happens when your dog goes into the living room just at the time the baby is crying, the food is cooking, and the doorbell is ringing? At this point, your dog going into the living room is not a priority. But guess what? Your dog knows exactly the right time to head into the living room.

Do not underestimate what a dog will do for his desires! Your dog knows that you saw him go into the living room, and he knows that you did not scold him at this time. He tried it and got away with it and he will try it again to see if he can get away with it again. If it is his desire to be in the living room for whatever reason, it is worth it to him to try.
Dog obedience training is not as difficult as it seems. With consistency, you can train your dog in just a few days. Just remember that you must be consistent even during the crazy times. Take that extra few seconds to redirect your dog. Pay attention to what he is doing at all times during this period of dog obedience training. Once your dog is completely trained, you will be able to go back to your everyday crazy life without worrying about your dog sneaking into the living room, garbage, bedroom, or whatever you need your dog to do or not do.

Be consistent during these dog obedience training days and you and your dog will live a happy, healthy, and loving life together.
