Remember that you can't spot the female or male Budgie by the color of the feathers. When they become adults, the males will have a blue/purple color, while the females are brown or tan.

The veterinarians say that budgies should have a diet of pellets that are extruded,because those have nutrients and vitamins that are important and can be boosted with extra supplements. You should give the budgies both vegetables and fresh fruits (leafy greens, apples and grapes).

Because budgies are very active little birds, they need daily exercise. Not only to keep them in shape but also keep them happy, especially, the budgies that are held in captivity.

Budgies, especially those that live in cages that are small, should be let out for at least a few hours each day in an area that is secure. They will exercise flying and stretching their wings.
