There are few arrangements and precautions that you should take to ensure that your pet has a safe and comfortable journey, whether you are traveling by road, train or air. The following guidelines will give you an idea of the steps that you must take while relocating with your pet:
- Necessary provisions - If you are traveling by train or by air, you usually have to opt for a pet cage. Contact the concerned authorities of the plane or the train that you will be traveling with to know the provisions that they offer for pets. Ensure that they will be able to provide a cage that is big enough for your pet. If you are traveling by road, decide the route that you will take and call the hotels along that route to ensure that they allow pets. Book a ground floor room, if it is available.
- Regulations regarding food and water- Regulate the amount of food intake of your pet the night before stating on your journey and every night while you are traveling. Offer the pet water but no food to ensure that he/she does not feel unwell during the journey. Walk the pets before you start on your journey, so that they can relieve themselves. Keep the water and food bowl handy if you are traveling by road. Give the pet water at regular intervals to prevent dehydration. If you are traveling by air or train, request the attendant of the pets to offer your pet water at regular intervals.
- Regulations regarding loading them- If you are traveling by road with your cat upload the litter box last.
