Ferrets are playful in nature and they love the company of people, be it adults or children. They do not like to be caged and are very pleased if they are left free. They are very mischievous and you can expect stuffs like key rings, shoes and other little things to be missing in their presence, and you would have to search them at other places of your home. Ferrets as pets become fond of a single member of the family. However, if you socialize it really well, it shall be comfortable with all.

After including a ferret as your family member, the first thing that you would need to buy is a cage. You should develop a habit of cleaning the cage at least twice a day, and for the purpose you may even place a small litter box within the cage itself. You may even buy and fix a water and food bowl in the cage. If you want to make your ferret feel really comfortable, arrange for bedding in the cage, you may make use of a blanket for the purpose.

Ferrets as pets cannot stay within the cage throughout the day. You have to allow them few hours out of the cage. During this period, your ferret may cause chaos if things are not properly arranged. A ferret takes delight in chewing any possible thing, hence things like wires and cables should be placed at a safe distance. Things like upholstery, shoes, and handbags and so on should be kept out of reach of your ferret, if you prize them.

Regular maintenance of your ferret is not that difficult a task; and you just need to take care of little things. You need to provide your ferret with fresh water and food each day and clean up the litter box once in a day. Do not allow your ferret outside the boundary of your home.
