Bats In The Attic

27 11:07:42
Wildlife animals are given their name for a reason; to be kept in the wild. Once they get inside a building there can be a full range of serious disasters. Of course no one openly welcomes wildlife into their home, but what do you do if they come in any way? What if bats are living in your attic? This is actually more common than you think, and it is a problem that should be tackled without hesitation.

How to bats get in your attic? They can sneak in through any part on the home that has holes, cracks, or openings. They are heading for dark space and protection and an attic is ideal for them.

Why get it done immediately? This is for many reasons. The most interesting is because since bats are a protected species, they cannot be removed from your attic during certain times of the year. For example, during the summer months of May through July bats find places like your attic to keep their young. If you seal the attic when the adult bats are gone, that means the young are left alone to die in your home and their population becomes smaller. If you think you have bats in your attic and you wait until it is too late, you could be stuck with them there for months.

These animals can be a threat to your health and can carry rabies. They also leave behind disease in their feces. If you are cleaning up the feces, it is urged to wear a respirator.

What to do if you have this problem? Call a wildlife control professional. They can safely remove the animals from your home and in a timely manner. Even more importantly they do a full inspection of your attic and the exterior of your home. During the inspection they check to see exactly how the bats got into the attic in the first place. Once the problem area(s) are found, they will seal the crack, hole, or opening shut. The bats are safely removed from the attic. Wildlife control companies promise to not harm the animals in any way and are there to do more than just protect your home –they want to protect the animals as well. Oftentimes, the same companies that do bat eradication will do animal rescue services.

There are custom made chimney caps available to those that are interested in taking all precautions to having a bat-free home.
