The days of designer pets are upon us and hopefully on their way out the door. Breeders, for the most part, are breeding animals for what? You guessed it. Moolah, cashola....profit. In many cases these animals aren't kept in very nice conditions and some are simply abused. So...

Why not adopt a pet from an animal shelter? Pets are/or will be family members of your home. Not status symbols, like designer pets. Understand, I am not breeder bashing. So long as the dog/cat isn't being improperly treated, inbred or bred to change, I have no qualms with breeders. People who keep true breeds true. Now...

I hate to see people buying baby chicks and bunnies for their kids on Easter. Don't do that. Unless you have the facility, ie. farm or ranchland, you won't want the animal when it grows up. Yes, they will become rabbits and chickens. Then what? Besides, an eco-friendly stuffed animal requires less maintenance and the children will get enjoyment from them for years to come. So...

Go visit an animal shelter next time you're in the market for a new pet. And remember, in the words of Bob Barker, "Please have your pet spayed or neutered".
