An Invisible Dog Fence Can Offer Your Pet a World Of Opportunity

An invisible dog fence will offer a "fenceless" fence to your house and yard. For many of us who do not have a fenced in yard, one of these items is one of the nicest options to keep your canine inside the border without the expense of putting a regular fence around your house. There are two basic types of an invisible dog fence on the market. There is the wireless type of containment and the electric or underground type of dog fence. The biggest difference is how they are installed, and this article being a basic review, makes reference to both models.

For the electric, also known as underground, type of fencing, the way it functions is pretty basic. First, a wire is buried around the perimeter of the area you want contained. This wire transmits a radio signal to a lightweight collar that your dog wears. Your canine should be wearing the lightweight collar whenever she is outside in the backyard. One important thing to emphasize is that your pet must be trained and correctly trained for an invisible dog fence to do its job in a safe and effective method. When your pet gets to close to the edge set by the wires, the collar will emit a warning sound letting your pet know she is getting too close. If your dog is correctly trained to use the system, he will often not go beyond this point. However, if the pet goes beyond the border line, the receiver will transmit a mild static shock to tell your dog that is too far. The shock is not hurtful to your pet and should not be viewed as wrong. It is similar to scooting across the floor in socks and then touching your loved ones.

The other type of invisible dog fence discussed is the wireless type of dog fencing. These systems have a transmitter that can be placed in any safe and dry location like a shed. Instead of wire being buried around the perimeter of your yard, when using a wireless fencing system, you basically only need to plug it in and choose the radius of the boundary. Wireless systems are extremely nice if you require portability with your fencing system. They can be taken with you anywhere you go. The way the collar works with a wireless fence is very similar to the electric type.

There are some of us who do not think that using these types of fencing systems is safe. As long as instructions are followed and correct training procedures are in place, an invisible dog fence offers a very humane and effective way to keep your canine contained. It is also a fraction of the cost of fencing in your entire backyard. The receiver collars that come with these designs of systems are specifically designed to have variable settings of correction. You should use the lowest possible correction that effectively gets the message to your dog. Smaller pets need lower settings and there are even special models available for little dogs.

An invisible dog fence is a wonderful way to keep your pet safe and secure within the borders you establish. With a little training, your dog will never venture past the point of needing correction. Personally, with my dogs, the minute they see the receiver being put on them, they are on their best behavior and love the freedom they have from one of these wonderful products. If you are believing one of these products may be right for your canine, please do the necessary research and take the time to read about the correct training techniques.
