An Invisible Dog Fence Will Offer Your Dog a Free Experience

An invisible dog fence can offer a "fenceless" boundary to your home and property. For those of us who do not own a fenced in backyard, this is one of the best options to keep your canine inside the yard without the hassle of putting a traditional fence around your house. There are two basic types of an invisible dog fence on the market. There is the wireless model of fence and the electric or electronic type of dog fence. The biggest difference is how they are put together, and this article being a basic overview, references to both types.

For the electric, also known as underground, design of dog fence, the way it functions is quite simple. First, a wire is buried around the border of the area you want contained. This wire emits a radio signal to a receiver collar that your pet wears. Your canine should be wearing the lightweight collar whenever he is outside in the contained area. One main point to emphasize is that your dog must be trained and correctly trained for an invisible dog fence to do its job in a humane and effective method. When your pet gets close to the boundary set by the wires, the collar will transmit a warning sound letting your canine know she is getting too close. If your canine is correctly trained to use the system, she will most likely not venture beyond this point. However, if the pet goes beyond the boundary line, the receiver will transmit a mild static correction to tell your pet that is too far. The shock is not hurtful to your canine and should not be viewed as inhumane. It is similar to scooting across the carpet in socks and then touching your best friend.

The other type of invisible dog fence discussed is the wireless type of dog fencing. These systems have a transmitter that can be put in any secure and dry place like a shed. Instead of wire being placed around the perimeter of your yard, when using a wireless dog fence system, you really only need to plug it in and choose the area of the boundary. Wireless fence systems are very handy if you need portability with your dog fence. They can be taken with you anywhere you go. The way the receiver collar functions with a wireless fence is very similar to the electric fence.

There are some of us who do not believe that using these types of fencing systems is safe. As long as directions are followed and proper training methods are in place, an invisible dog fence can offer a very safe and productive way to keep your dog contained. It is also a fraction of the cost of fencing in your entire yard. The collars that come with these designs of systems are specifically designed to have variable settings of correction. You should use the lowest possible setting that effectively gets the message to your canine. Smaller dogs require lower settings and there are even special models available for small canines.

An invisible dog fence is a great device to keep your pet safe and secure within the borders you establish. With a little training, your pet will never venture past the point of needing correction. Personally, with my pets, the minute they see the collar being put on them, they are on their best behavior and love the freedom they have from one of these fantastic systems. If you are thinking one of these fences may be appropriate for your pet, please do the proper research and take the time to find out about the correct training techniques.
