If you want to successfully train your new puppy or dog, you need one critical element.
A proper mindset.
Without it, you and your dog will be frustrated beyond belief. And just what is a proper mindset?
No matter whether you want to train your dog for the Westminster Kennel Club or just to be a loving member of your household, here are some simple guidelines:
1) You must establish trust, whether your dog is an adult or puppy
2) You keep your interaction positive with your dog, and
3) You consistently reinforce "positive" behavior
You will find that the behavior of your dog is usually breed specific. So make sure you're knowledgeable about what makes your retriever, poodle or labrador unique.
My brittany spaniel, Abbey, is very different from my border collie/aussie mix, Mollie. One is a 揵irder.?And the other is a 揾erder.?
When I first walked them together, their objectives were the opposite of mine. Yet through research and observation, they have become both well-behaved and loving dogs.
Search the web, visit amazon.com or ask your veterinarian about recommended sources to learn about the various characteristics of your breed.
The more you know, the easier your training will be. You will understand what makes your dog different. What his genetic disposition is. And how to maximize your training time together.
In the end, remember that training was not your dog抯 idea. You need to make the process as enjoyable as possible. Be lavish with praise and positive reinforcement.
You will move your dog faster toward the behavior you seek. And you will find the unconditional love they give you and your family one of the joys of daily life.
