The Chase

In born instincts may appear in the behavior of a puppy when it chases cats. It could be anything, whether it is an animal, a person or a car. Big problems may be the outcome when this type of puppy behavior is exhibited. While you may not be able to take the instinct out of the dog, there are thing you can do to keep your pet safer. Stopping the chase by a puppy prior to it beginning could be your best method to alter its behavior. With some attention and a little time you can train your dog to focus your dog's attention on you instead of on his prospective prey!

Leaping and Jumping

A puppy will jump up to signal a greeting to its mother. They may carry this behavior over to people as well. Some dogs like to show that they are dominant by jumping. Jumping can be troublesome and dangerous behavior. You may not succeed at first when training your dog not to jump, so keep trying. You don't want to send your dog the wrong signal by pushing the dog, grabbing his paws or blocking him with your leg even though these methods might work for some dogs. A reward is what your puppy may be seeking when it exhibits the behavior of jumping up to get your interest. Turning your back on the dog and ignoring him is the best approach. Be careful not to speak, touch or make eye contact with the dog. Continue doing what you were doing. Reward your dog when he doesn't jump or when he is relaxed. Your dog will begin to understand after a bit of time passes.

Dogs that Bite

Due to their instincts and the way that they used to run in pacts, dogs may bite. Biting is one way that your puppy will use to establish his place in the pack and to explore the world around them. It is important to teach the puppy right away that you will not tolerate any biting or mouthing.

Many people believe that biting is dependent on the breed of dog you are dealing with but this isn't necessarily true. But ultimately it is the owners who are the ones responsible for controlling their animals and providing the correct training and socialization to produce well balanced and personable pets. 10* Aggressive Behavior

Biting, lunging, showing teeth, snarling, and growling are some of the behaviors that exhibit dogs problem behavior. A dog has the potential to become aggressive regardless of breed, past history, training or age. If the dogs parents were aggressive or if your dog was brought up in a home that was abusive, you can be sure that he will begin to show the aggressive side of his own personality. It is no laughing matter if your dog is aggressive or showing signs of potential aggression. A health issue could be the cause of aggression so discussing the issue with your vet is important. If that does not help, find someone that is experienced in training dogs. Mean dogs need to be kept away from other fine animals and people.
