How to Install Blades in an Oster Clipmaster

How to Install Blades in an Oster Clipmaster. Large animal owners occasionally need to groom their livestock. Horses and cows often need their hair trimmed before a show or parade and you need a cutter to shear sheep and goats. The Oster Clipmaster is a two-speed hair clipper for animals. The slower speed makes precision cuts on the animal’s face and legs possible and the higher speed is available for the animal’s body. Blades will dull after repeated use and sharp blades are necessary for even cuts. Knowing how to change the blades on your Clipmaster can make clipping time easier on you and your animals.

An Oster Clipmaster can lessen the time it takes to shear a sheep.

Things Needed

  • Replacement blades
  • Phillips screwdriver

Step 1

Disconnect the Clipmaster’s power cord.

Step 2

Loosen the machine’s blade tension knob by unscrewing the blade nut on the bottom of the head. Turn the nut in a clockwise direction to loosen it.

Step 3

Turn the machine over and loosen the two screws that hold the blade with your screwdriver. Remove the comb and cutter blades from their housing.

Step 4

Inspect your new blades to ensure that they are free from dust and fibers before placing them in the machine.

Step 5

Lay your new cutter blade – the smallest blade – over the two tabs on the head of the Clipmaster. Make sure that the blade’s curve is facing upward.

Step 6

Slide your new comb blade on top of the cutter blade and fit the notches around the two screws in the head. Face the blade with any writing pointing up and tighten the screws by hand.

Step 7

Turn the machine over and slide the cutter blade to within 1/32 and 1/16 of an inch from the comb blade.

Step 8

Tighten the tension by turning the tension knob counterclockwise until you meet resistance and then turn another half turn.
