Second graders are had a Black and White Day Antarctic celebration! Students and teachers wore black and white in honor of their penguin friends. Spelling tests, vocabulary quizzes, reading assignments, and math assessments all pertained to penguins. Later in the day, teachers and students had snacks including fish sandwiches, goldfish, and assorted black and white foods,Moncler 2012. Students also had an opportunity to play a variety of penguin games. This celebration is a culminating activity as children concluded their study of Antarctica and penguins.
The second grade had tons of fun dressing up as their favorite fairy tale characters last Friday, January 27 in a special day full of food and fun! Some of the costumes included fairies and other magical characters,The Clarion Second graders are had a Black and White Day Antarctic celebration. Also,michael kors store, each boy and girl made a fairy house that was proudly displayed along the brick walkway to the gym. Each second grader brought a special fairy tale snack that related to his or her character or story, and they had tons of fun during the day of fairy tale festivities throughout the day. The fairy tale festival is a favorite of the second grade and has been for many years.
Fourth graders have been using a lot of technology this year. In history, they've been using an online program, Sheppard Software,Michael Kors Online, to learn about state capitals and the locations of the states and IXL to help practice math skills.
They have also been practicing keyboarding skills using Type to Learn 4, a keyboarding program that differentiates instruction for each student's assessed skill level. Many students have already met the expected speed and accuracy goal for their grade level!
The most essential keyboarding skill is proper technique-typing with fingers on the home keys, not looking at the keyboard, keeping feet flat on the floor in front of the typist, and sitting with good posture. As students use the elements of good technique while they practice typing, they will type more accurately with increasing speed. Ten minutes of keyboarding practice at home, several days a week, will help students develop effective keyboarding skills.
The fifth graders did a great job writing and presenting their speeches to the school in the speech contest. They were judged by three judges and three people got chosen for third, second, and first place. Every contestant got a certificate for getting in, too. The dramatic readers did a great job reading poems like "Genghis Khan and his Hawk" and "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere,The Clarion Second graders are had a Black and White Day Antarctic celebration."
The judges had a hard time deciding but eventually decided that Lucus's speech on the National Mall should win third place, Elise's speech on Nantucket lightship baskets should win second place, and Will's speech on roller coasters should win first place. Keep it up,Michael Kors Bags, fifth grade!
The Charleston Day School 6th graders participated in the school science fair. Ever student had to create a thesis statement, and then designed their experiment, do research, collect the data, record the data, and created a poster board on the project. The students worked very work over a 6 month period of time. This gave the students an excellent opportunity to expand their minds. This also gave the students plenty of freedom to express their ideas.
