Skin is the very first barrier to the outside world. It protects body from pollutions, controls temperatures, and fights bacteria. The skin becomes vulnerable when there aren't enough emollients and nutrients.

Satisfying your skin is not as easy as downing a glass of water. It is probably already stocked with lotions and creams promising to revitalize, replenish, and rehydrate. So why does your skin still feel tight and uncomfortable?

Moisturizers alone only temporarily relieve the symptoms of chronically dry skin. Most cases are caused by environmental factors, for example, exposure to hot or cold weather with low humidity, wind, excessive bathing, harsh soaps and detergents, poor diet, and bad habits such as smoking. Incorporating a few simple changes into your daily routine may be all you need to get your skin looking and feeling soft and healthy again.

Being healthy from the inside

What you eat and drink has as much effect on your skin as it does on your overall health. The best way is to get your healthy skin naturally by consuming food which can provide body the vitamins necessary for skin including:

Vitamin A in eggs, dried beans, green vegetables, pumpkins, and carrots provides healthy hair and skin.
Vitamin B1in bread, pork, and small fish stimulates excretory system which makes skin corpulent.
Vitamin B2in milk, eggs, yogurt, animal guts, and fish also provides healthy skin and glowing eyes.
Vitamin B6in bananas, pork, chicken, seafood, whole grains, and red beans prevents skin from dehydration.
Vitamin Cin fresh vegetables and fruits helps skin shiny
Vitamin D in fish oil, milk, and eggs prevents pimples and skin inflammation
Vitamin Ein green vegetable, tomatoes, cucumbers, vegetable oil, dried beans, eggs, and fish oil can nourish skin

Rehydrating from the outside

Apply moisturizer immediately after your bath or shower to lock in the moisture, most dermatologists suggest. Moisturizers not only help the cells on the outermost layer of the skin absorb water, they also prevent water from evaporating. However, don't get too carried away with nice- smelling cream, you can use just a small amount, apply to wet skin, and rub in well whatever the product is. Night is the best time for moisturizing results.

Avoid smoking. The smokers won't get the most benefit from moisturizing regimen because the nicotine in cigarette constricts blood vessels, including the tiny capillaries that serve the skin. That can deprive it of the oxygen and nutrients it needs for good health.

Use lukewarm water when bathing and try to limit your shower to 15 minutes or less once a day. Avoid harsh soaps and don't vigorously scrub your skin. When toweling dry, blot or pat your skin so there's still some moisture left.

Use free additives detergent. Don't use fabric softeners, especially in the dryer to prevent skin irritation.

Apply sunscreen to all exposed areas of the body. UV ray can cause skin aging and skin cancer.

Most important, remember that dry skin is a common problem. Just being patient to solve it by moisturizing daily after showing and getting needed nutrition are all it takes!!
