Basa is known by different names in different parts of the world. Australians call it bocourti, British call it River cobbler and in the other parts of European continent, the fish is known by names such as panga and pangasius. This fish largely resembles catfish, which is why some of the catfish varieties are commonly mistaken for basa fish.
