But before hitting the road with your playful Labrador Retriever, it is important that you are packed with travel ideas that will make your trip exciting as well as safe.

Your destination.

Before deciding to set out to that inviting white sand beach you see on the web, ensure that your pet will be welcomed there. Find out the rules or restrictions or additional fees when taking a pet. Book your accommodations in advance when everything is checked.

Prepare your pet for travel.

A sure way to enjoy the trip with your pet is to prepare him for the travel. Take him to the vet for general check up prior to traveling. Update his vaccination and make sure that he is protected with vaccines against parvovirus, distemper, rabies and others. Ask for the papers to prove the vaccinations as these papers are mandatory in some places or countries.

Identification.

One of the most important things to remember when traveling with your dog is his ID tag. Securely affix to your dog an ID tag with your dog's name, your name, your phone number and other contact information in case of emergencies. If you do not want to turn your exciting trip to disaster and go home without your beloved Labrador Retriever, then get an ID tag!

Your pet's food.

Bring your pet's regular pet food and stick to the regular diet throughout your vacation period. Abrupt change of your dog's diet can upset his stomach and may cause diarrhea or other digestive problems. Do not forget to bring his food and water bowls and also old towels or rags to cleanup after your dog.

First aid kit.

It is important to have emergency first aid kits. It should contain anti-itch medication, bandages and antibiotic ointments just in case emergency interrupts your beautiful and well-planned trip. You can also bring your dog's medical history, grooming supplies as well as extra collar and leash.

Rest area.

If you are driving long distance with your dog, make sure to have an occasional stops ( every three hours) along the road to relieve itself, drink water or stretch. And be sure to take poop scooper just in case your dog eliminated in public area.
