There are sites you can go to on the Internet that list by breed adopt a dog organizations. So if you are looking for a particular breed or puppies, you can now find shelters and animal shelter for pets. You can get a very good puppy sometimes from such a site.  Many sites work with you making sure you and your pet are a good match.

Not Problem

In animal rescue most rescue dogs are not problems. Many, indeed, most are in their predicament not because of any bad behavior on their part, but because of families moving, divorces, death of a family member, and other such human problems. These are things over which the poor animal had no control. To find rescue organizations check with your veterinarian, pet stores, and the SPCA or Humane Society. Of course searching on-line will also show some.

Most Older than 6 Months

Most adopted canines are older than six months, so some are trained, and most are house broken. Most rescue centers will not release an animal until vaccinated and neutered. These are some of the things that put them in a favorable light. The reward of giving a pet a new home, and the canine both healthy and happy to have a new home, are priceless. This does not mean you do not need  preparation for a few behavior problems that arise, when you adopt a dog, or with any abandoned animal.

Look at Home

Rescue centers look at the home environment and make sure the pet is suitable for the type of home you have. Many actually do a physical home check before advising. They also want you to exercise the animal regularly. They want the pet to adjust with you and you with it, and do not want to see you returning it several weeks or months later.

May Have Some Issues

A rescue dog will have abandonment issues and can even be aggressive and nervous at first. Some will have medical issues.  Be sure to watch for signs of this including the dog eating grass on the lawn.  A reliable rescue center will let you know if these problems exist. Not all will come without some problems, and you will need awareness of them and be able to deal with them. Some of the animals may have been victims of physical abuse and will need patience. Yet, this downside of a rescue dog is very rare.

So look into several animal shelter or rescue shelters for rescue dogs or puppies when wanting to take part in animal rescue when you wish to rescue a dog, be patient, and adopt a dog you like.
