When you get a dog as a pet the first and the foremost responsibility is to make him aware of the fact that he is not allowed to pass on his stuff everywhere rather he has to be taught as to what place is the right place and how to reach that place. These lessons of the dog toilet training are very important and this basically is termed as housebreaking. When you bring in a puppy he would not know anything about it as he has not learned this. That will be a tough duty which you will have to perform. Here are a few tips to dog toilet training lessons which you need to know to train your dog.

We have been hearing terrible stories about the problems one face while training the housebreaking to a puppy. One does get frustrated quite often but the primary goal must be kept in mind and that is to hold your puppy from pooing and peeing all over the house. One has to be consistent.

What exactly does this mean? Well, when you take puppy outside to do his business, take the same route, use the same commands and praise him when he starts to go and when he finishes. Some owners like to stand indoors, especially when it is raining or very cold. The problem with that method is that the puppy gets associated going out with you and when he is left outside alone, this may hold him to finish his work outside and it may ultimately result into pass on all over the house. Your dog will either make crate his toilet or elsewhere so he doesn't have to go outdoors.

The experts have worked out a formula and that is that a puppy does not need the house breaking for the time period in hours which commensurate to his age plus one. Thereby, meaning that a puppy whose age is 4 months can hold on for at least 5 hours.

To use the toilet you must make housebreaking a second habit of your pup. You must take him out when he wakes up and then after every hour or so, initially, throughout the day and at night. Keep him on the leash so you won't have to chase him if he gets distracted by any activity outside. You must select a command word that will mean "it is time to go to the toilet." When puppy chooses his spot, use that command in a gentle voice until he begins to urinate. Some dogs will poop afterward so keep repeating the command until he is done with that too. Then, praise him for his great work.

If you catch puppy doing the act while being in the crate or room, your voice command will usually stop him in the middle. If you can catch him urinating, you'll avoid getting a bigger mess. Pick him up and take him out to the bathroom spot. Use the toilet command to make him finish his business. Then, praise him like normal.

The training for housebreaking is as rewarding as it is nerve-wracking, because when with your consistent efforts your puppy learns to go out to finish with his toiletry obligations, it will you who will be breathing easy.
