If your dog does something right, they should be praised and rewarded for it. If you have a golden retriever that responsing to you and doing well, you should reward them immediately. Letting your dog know that their responsing in a appropiate manner leads to a positive response much quicker in the future. However, if your dog is not responsing in a way you would like, you shouldn't reward them at all.

Timing is a very important factor when it comes to training your dog. If your dog is doing something wrong, you should correct them immediately. Why? Because the faster you correct them without a doubt they will understand what they did wrong. Don't wait or hesitate to correct them at a another time. That may send a wrong message or bad impression.

For example, you have a golden retriever that likes to chase people which can be unsafe for people. As soon as you are aware of this habit, you should stop your dog and let them know their wrong. Your dog will learn that chasing people is something that shouldn't be done. Its not going to happen overnight, however with a little time and patience your dog will come to the realization.

stopping. To get the most out of your dog always praise them for behaving in the right way and correct them for behaving in the negative way.

The training process might be a little longer than you would like to think however it will be worth it in the end. Once your dog is trained, they will react to what you say and avoid doing things that you dislike. Training is essential and will make you a much better dog in the future.
