Many of us have a better relationship with our dog than we do with most humans. Let’s face it, dogs are friendlier, happier and possibly even smarter than most people we know, that being said, we have done quite a number on our furry friends when it comes to domesticating them. We dress them up in clothes, we get their nails done, I’ve even heard of people who read their dogs bedtime stories; however, it is important to note that there is one place where we should be letting them go back to their roots and that involved their diet.
Studies have shown that dogs who are fed a raw dog food diet receive more benefit than dogs who are fed processed food. Raw dog food ultimately models itself off of the diet that a wolf in the wild would eat. Because of the strong genetic similarities between domesticated dogs and their �wolfy� cousins, it is felt that dogs would live longer, healthier lives if they were allowed to eat the way that nature originally meant for them to.
A raw dog food diet centers itself around items found in nature that a natural predator would eat, such as raw, meaty bones, meat scraps, as well as veggies and fruit. Research has shown that dogs who are given such a diet have healthier skin and fur, fresher breath and healthier gums, lessens digestion problems and reduces gas, and also helps with joint problems. In addition, dogs who are fed a raw dog food diet have a greater chance of living a longer life with better health than a dog that is fed processed food.
