Be very careful with milk because it could cause diarrhea. A litter box and scratching post are a must. Other basic supplies include water bowl, food bowl, toys, kitty condo, brushes and comb.

Modern toys for cats are more sophisticated. Kitty cats like any toys that move so that they can pounce on them. The more interactive the toys the cats seem to enjoy playing with. However, there are some toys that should be avoided such as the elastic toys for they could hurt the cats.

Purchasing a scratching post would be in the best interest of both you and your kitty. This is because cats need to sharpen their claws often, and if you do not want your furniture to be shredded, a scratching post is a necessity. Trimming your cats claws is also a necessity, however if you are not comfortable about doing it, you should take your cat to the vet, he or she will be more than happy to do it.

There are a number of different brushes available to cat owners. It is important that you groom your cat often to avoid hairballs and it also allows you to check for ticks and fleas. Brushing them also assists in keeping the fur clean and shiny, and is very good at removing dead skin from the cats fur, reducing the chances of allergies.

Longhaired cats need special care to keep their fur healthy. It is recommended that they be brushed on a daily basis, and if that is not possible, every other day, this not only keeps the cats fur healthy, it is also a way for you to show your kitty how much you love him or her. Choosing the right brush depend on the length of your cats fur. A hard brush should be used on cat with thick or short fur. This will assist you in getting out all of the knots and debris that can build up on a daily basis. Cats with long furs should have a brush with soft wire or pins. This will allow you to brush them easily and will also get any debris out of their fur to give them a shiny healthy looking coat. We may live in a modern society but we still need our beloved kitty cats. They are capable of bring so much joy and love into our lives. Studies have found that they have a most comforting and calming effect on the elderly and sick.
