QuestionI have a small papillion and I am flying soon from Denver to Las Vegas and carrying him on. The airline is asking for a certificate of health and a rabies certificate. How much do these usually run and what exactly do they want? there is not alot of information available. Thanks for your help.
AnswerI think whatever state you live in requires rabies vaccination. You should have received a certificate at the time of the vaccination. For the certificate of health, that should be no more than a regular office call. If you go back to the veterinarian that did the rabies shot, likely you will not be charged for a duplicate certificate, or at least only a small fee. If your dog is over due for a rabies shot, it could be 25-$50. If it is over due for several shots, it could go over $100. It is good the airline is allowing the dog in the cabin. It is much safer there than when the airlines insist on the cargo hold.
