travelling with my cat

I am flying to San Antonio in a few months.  Can I take my cat on the plane with me?  How does this work?

Each airline has their own rules. Usually to keep it in the cabin with you, much safer than cargo, it must be in a carrier.  Check with the airline yo will be flying.  If you don't like their answers, check alternative ones.  Things could be improving.  The FAA now requires the airlines to keep track of pet deaths, and that may convince some to do better.
