Question
I want to ship my Chichuhua to Frankfurt, Germany from Atlanta, GA by Delta.  I understand there is certain forms required by the German government but noone can tell me what they are and where to get them.  I need your help. Please.  What do I need to ship my little guy?

Answer
Dear Linda
This should be no problem. First, pet needs microchip.
Then, a rabies vaccination.  This MUST be at least 30 days
old and less than one year at time of travel.  Then,
aphis 7001 international health certificate issued within
10 days of travel.  Some might tell you that you do not
need this.  German government does not seem to care too
much about it, but the airlines usually do.  I highly
recommend you have it.  And, this must be endorsed by usda.
The most important paper is: European Union (UE) form 998
This is bi-lingual english-german and will record the
microchip and rabies info.  This MUST also be endorsed by
usda.  If you are military, the military vet will have all
these forms and save you much money.  The veterinarian will
have the h.c.  Vet MUST be accredited to sign international
h.c.  Not all vets are.  Just ask him/her.
You can go to p.5 of my:  www.actionpetexpress.com  and
click on usda and ultimately download the eu cert. Better,
just call usda in Georgia and they can fax copy to your
and/or your vet. Sorry I do not have that phone #, but any
civilian vet should be able to provide.  Your own vet may
have this already.
To book on Delta, call: 866.782.2746
If someone is flying to Germany, take the dog as excess
baggage.  Much cheaper, would clear customs with you, and
much less hassle.
Hope this gets you going.  Please contact me for more info
or assistance.
Have a nice trip. (you can take dogs into restaurants, etc
in Europe)
Most Sincerely, Jerry Mishler
