Question
I live in Charlotte, NC and have a 60 lb lab to take to
Jakarta where I will be associated with a University.
I am having many problems getting good information.  Most
tell me I can not take the dog. Some airlines say I can.
Please, can you provide some help with this?
Ray

Answer
Dear Ray
Thankyou for your enquiry
Yes, Indonesia has become quite difficult, BUT, not impossible.
We serve many U.S. State Dept persons. We have assisted many lately
to Jakarta.  Pets whose owners have diplomatic passports are
having NO problems.  Those in the private sector are having more
problems.  We have helped several lately by using a pet shipping
service in Hong Kong.  We ship to them. Then, they re-do the
paperwork, and then on to Jakarta.  Perfectly legal, just a little
known secret we know about!
I urge you to contact the folks at:  www.groovy.co.id
They are the primary pet shipping service in Jakarta and they will
know the very latest of requirements.  We work very closely with them.
Your best choice of airlines will be: Lufthansa or KLM from Atlanta
or Washington DC where I am. Both have excellent animal facilities
in Frankfurt and Amsterdam to care for pets during travel breaks.
If you can, take the dog with you as excess baggage as this will be
MUCH cheaper for you, and the pet would clear customs with you.
If you will contact us directly at:  888.234.5028  we can put you
in touch with the Hong Kong connection!!!
Please feel free to contact us for any and all follow up assistance.

p.s.  By the way, should your dog travel as cargo, the charges will
be based upon maximum outside dimensions of travel kennel.
This is called volume or dimensional weight.  Should he travel with
you as excess baggage, contact the passenger reservation people at
the airline you travel on.
