To take a Pet from USA to India

Hi, Am travelling from Philadelphia to India and would like to knwo the formalities in taking a Pet Dog with me.  I am planning to buy a puppy which is less than 4 kg wait and cam come with me as hand luggage.  I am travelling via Air France.  However i would like to know how much the charges would be with taxes and what steps i need to take to ensure this is a smooth transfer.

If you are bringing the dog as excess baggage, you will not have the access to the professional pet moving services we offer.  We handle all the paperwork-the export and import documents.  If you have a connection have you thought about how this will effect the dog?

Alot of countries do not allow pets to be imported unless they arrive as cargo (meaning not in cabin, or as excess baggage).
