Question
QUESTION: I am planning to relocate to Bali from Honolulu, Hawaii this February, with 2 dogs. I am planning to use a custom broker to handle my dogs entry into Indonesia. There is a flight making one stop and changing airline ANA to JAL in Tokyo that is the most direct. I would want assistance in Tokyo for the transfer in case there are problems. Can you advise? Any other advise is welcomed. Thank you.

ANSWER: A customs broker may NOT be the best for handling pets.
I suggest you contact Groovy Pets in Jakarta for advice.

QUESTION: Aloha Jerry, first of all let me thank you for the time you give to help all us. Obviously you really care! It is difficult to find clear information on which is the best way to bring dogs into Bali. I want to make sure all goes smoothly for them and will follow any suggestion you have. I was given I quote of $6,500 by a pet relocation company (Ipata member, door to door service) not including airline cost, crates, vets, and I have no way of knowing if they have experience with Indonesia or if this is a fair price. They want full payment upfront. It seems awfully high to me. I cannot access Groovy Pets website for some reason but thank you for their e mail, I will immediately contact them. If it is alright I was planning to contact you by phone this week. I would like to mention here for the benefit of others in my situation, that I understand for entry into Indonesia, that the Rabies vaccination has to be administered with a killed vaccine versus a live vaccine. Again, thank you so much for your care and concern. Aloha

ANSWER: I think I just mis-sent my reply to you, so here goes again.
Who in the world quoted you $6500?  Please do tell me.  This is
criminal..... Do NOT even answer them
You may need to call Groovy as they are slow in responding to
emails.  They are very busy, but do know their business.
I have much experience with Indonesia, but not the route you need.
$6500 for what???  All they offer you is delivery to the airport in
Honolulu, then pickup in Indonesia?   They probably will need to
use Groovy as well; and I am sure you, or someone you know can take
dogs to airport in Honolulu!!!!!
Please stay in touch

QUESTION: Jerry, thank you for your prompt response! I was wondering why I could not take my dogs to the airport myself.I would really like having them on my same flight is possible. This company told me they might not get on the plane if it is too hot but that they can circumvent that by keeping the animals in a temperature controlled area? February temperature at Honolulu Airport is 80 degrees average. Should I be concerned about this detail? I wonder if you have a phone # for Groovy Pets, I still cannot access their website.
Again Mahalo nui loa (thank you so much), as we say in Hawaii.

Answer
I gave you Groovy's phone # on the first email:
  62 21 739 4616  or  739 6106
You still have not told me the outfit with the high quote....
I don't think you should have a temp problem with the airline.
Which one are you going on?  Was that ANA to Tokyo then Japan Air?
Check with ANA.
