Answer
HI Teresa,

Thank you for your email.

Below is the link to the US Center for Disease Control which regulates the importation of animals into the United States.  This link will tell you all of the regulations that you'll need to comply with and paperwork you'll need to have in order to be able to bring your siberian husky into the United States, including quarantine information, and vaccination requirements.

To find out what airlines will transport dogs you'd have to call them individually.  The US regulates airlines that fly with dogs becasue it's not very safe to put a dog in the cargo hold and many die.

Flying with a husky I would be extremely cautious. As you probably know Huskies like to run, and don't like stressful situations and if he gets lose (sometimes they get lose during transport - someone lets them out, their crate bounced and breaks.. etc.. )  you could lose your dog or worse.

The only company that currently flies dogs in the passenger cabin that I know of is the Dogtravel company  http://www.dogtravelcompany.com .

The problem with the cargo hold - aside from the possibility that your dog could get lose b/c he's not in your control and strangers are handling him is that the air pressure in the cargo hold is NOT the same as their airpressure in the passenger cabin. The plane will not go up or down unless the pilot changes the airpressure.  (NOTE all cargo holds are pressurized.. the pressure just doesn't stay the same)  This is why it is illegal in most countries for a human to travel in the passenger cabin - it can be lethal.

You may be able to purchase a first class ticket on some airlines from Malta to the US and have your dog sit next to you. I don't know if the airlines still let you do that in Malta, but it's worth a shot.

Hope that helps.
