Relocating from China to Serbia

Question
We are UK citizens living in China at the moment. We will be relocating to Serbia (Belgrade) later this year and would love to take our small Yorkie with us. Cannot really take him via the UK as he would need to do a 6 months quarantine. Is it possible for him to go from China to Serbia?

Answer
Hi Damian,

Thank you for your inquiry.  You're correct in that going via the UK will be not only difficult but also impossible (China is not considered an 'approved country' for entry to the UK).  However preparing your Yorkie to Belgrade from China directly will not be much easier, mainly because Serbia is part of the EU and requires a blood test to be done for pets coming from "rabies-uncontrolled" countries like China.  So, your dog will need to have a microchip, then two rabies shots done and then he will need a blood test done.  From the date of the blood test, you will need to wait three months before you can go to Serbia and avoid any quarantine time.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.  Our company arranges door-to-door services, including assistance with all of the requisite pre-export blood work and paperwork.  If you'd like a quote for our services, feel free to contact me directly at blog[at]petrelocation[dot]com.

Cheers!
