QuestionQUESTION: hi, my girlfriend is coming to USA in two weeks and wants to bring her pet over. She has all the papers but is not sure if all the vaccines has been made. What does she need to bring dog over and what is the procedure?

ANSWER: What airline is she flying on? Most airlines would allow pet in the
cabin, and if not, at least as excess baggage. Much cheaper this way
and would clear customs with her. Only, going thru UK would require
dog to travel ONLY as cargo.
She only needs a health cert issued with 10 days of flight and a valid rabies vac. Nothing else. No quarantine
She needs to check with passenger reservation people of the airline
she flys on.

QUESTION: Jerry, thank you for prompt reply. As follow up, she's flying Austrian air lines and she already booked a place for the dog. Her another concern is that all documents for the dog are written in Russian, should she translate them in Kazakhstan or on arriving to states? And one more thing, what happens if some vacs are missing? is it expensive to get vacs in states and quarantine a dog for a needed time?

AnswerAs I stated in the previous email, the ONLY vac required for entry
into USA is RABIES..... Dog should be up to date with everything
else.
It would help to have rabies info into English or even German.
Because the Russian script is different, customs people here might
not be able to read it in Russian. However, I am sure many people
arrive in USA with paperwork in different languages, and it seems to
work out. It would be too late if paperwork was to be translated
after arrival in USA !!!
If her vet could at least try to write out the rabies info as to
dates, etc should work out fine.
She might consider contacting the airline and see what they say
