Travel Restrictions for Dogs

Question
Hi Jerry,

We are going to be returning to the United States from Rwanda via Belgium later this year with our 2 dogs (a cairn terrier and black lab). We are looking into traveling in December. Do you know if there are any restrictions related to weather for traveling with dogs in the cargo in December?

Thanks,
Torri

Answer
If you travel on one of the foreign carriers, such as Lufthansa,
KLM, Air France, there would be no weather problems.  US carriers
such as United will have possible embargoes.  Continental is also ok
You will need to get final info direct from the airline you use.
Try to bring dogs with you as excess baggage. Much cheaper and will
clear customs with you.  New TSA rules are that if pets are shipped
as cargo, they must be tendered by a known shipper.  Will be much
more expensive.
