Flying dog from Houston to Stockholm

Question
I am trying to fly my 14 lb shiba inu (2 years) to Stockholm this summer. He is just over the maximum weight to fly in the cabin, so will need to go in the cargo. I was told by continental that there is an embargo for pets flying animals into Stockholm between June 1st and September 15th and will not be able to fly him in between these dates, also they said that if he does fly before June 1st, he will need blood work done 120 days before he leaves. I was just wondering if here was any other way to het him to Stockholm with out flying directly to Sweden and gettin around this 120 bloodwork rule. I have family in France who have shipped dogs from the US to France and said it was not as difficult. I would definitly be willing to fly into another country in Europe 1st (I am an American & EU citizen) & then travel to Sweden. If you could give me any information on how I could travel with my dog to Stockholm before June 1st.

Answer
To begin with, I do not think CO would be a good choice to Stockholm.  They tell me that the
so called embargo is because CO is having some problem with the Swedish govt.  There is NO regular embargo.  You'd be better to ship on: Lufthansa, KLM and/or SAS

Sweden and Norway require the blood test and 120 day quarantine wait in any event.  Are you not
current with their regulations?  I have a link to the entire EU right from my homepage.  June 1st
should have nothing to do with pet shipping.....
You could take the pet with you as excess baggage to most any other EU country: Germany, Holland,
France, Denmark, Belgium, etc    I am not sure if further shipment to Sweden might require cargo
only, as does UK for instance.  Still need the 120 day wait to Sweden and Norway, but not necessary for the rest of EU, other than UK.  No blood test for the other countries.  But is
necessary for Sweden. Does this make sense?
