going back home with my dog

Hello!
Seven months ago my dog (Lana) and I moved to Egypt (we are both Italian). Now it's time for holiday and i'd like to go back to Italy  with my dog. Then we both will be back to Egypt again. The Egyptian vet has told me i don't have to prepare any certificate going back to Italy but ...someone told me in Italy at the border they might ask for the antirabies vaccine active.  I am puzzled! can you help us?

You will need to meet EU entry requirements coming from a 3rd country.  That is, Egypt being
not rabies free and rabies not under control.  This means blood tests, and a wait of 3 mos to
enter Italy.  I think best to leave Lana in Egypt.
