Question
I have tank, about 10 yr old, only have a few fish, one feather duster that popped up.....suddenly I have about 500 flat worms, many legs, red on one end of the body, the rest is black, about 3/4 inch long,....what are they?

Answer
Tom,
It sounds to me like you have a bristleworm infestation. To see a picture of this animal go to www.about.com - click on hobbies and games, one of the headings on the left side. You will then look for the heading "saltwater aquariums" all the way down on the left. You will then come to the site of stan and debbie hauter. They are awesome and a wealth of info. Once on that page go again all the way down to the left to find the heading "most popular articles", click on it and you will find a vast number of articles. In about the first third you will see the heading "bad bristleworms control". Click on that heading and you will see pictures and ways to remove them. Good luck, gerry. If you have a problem getting to the article go to google and type in bristleworms. You should be able to choose the right method for your situation.
