Turtles in pond?

25 10:02:28

Question
I just put in a 1000 gallon pond and will be adding some comets, frogs and plants.  I would like to know if there is any type of turtle that could go in with these other inhabitants?

Thank you
Moe

Answer
Turtles sometimes may nip some fish fins or eat some small fish or frogs as well as chew on various plants.  Check out my turtle pages at http://www.fishpondinfo.com/turtle.htm for more information on the types of turtles common to the US (if you're here), turtle ponds, and more turtle info.  Of the easy to find (to buy) turtles, I think the painted turtle is the best turtle for a pond such as yours which is similar to mine.  They mostly eat small insects, worms, etc.  I did put in a turtle but she ran away (hence, fencing is required).
