Constructing a natural looking waterfall

Question
I am in the beginning stages of planning a water feature for our back yard, the actual building will begin  next spring.  I am looking at an in-ground pond of 3-4 ft deep, and aprox 12 by 15 feet.
The area I am planning on using is shaded and flat, and I would really like to put in a waterfall like feature flowing into the pond, the looks and sounds of the water falling are very appealing.
I need ideas on how to build this and have it blend and look natural.  I have seen many photos of waterfalls that just dont look right or natural to me.
We live in the Missouri Ozarks, and have already started collecting stones from the area to use.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Robin

Answer
With my pond, they used the excavated earth to make a waterfall hill.  It has settled a little bit over 9 years but not too badly.  You could do the same thing.  I don't know how natural it looks to have a mountain with falls on an otherwise flat area but mine doesn't look all that unnatural.  You can see photos of my pond at http://www.fishpondinfo.com/pictures.htm
Good luck!
