Question
I live in Utah and this is my first year having a pond. What should I do with my waterlillies now that it is getting cold?

Answer
Hi Lori,
thanx for your question.  As long as your pond is at least 18 inches deep and your lilies are hardy not tropical waterlilies, they will overwinter just fine.  If the waterlily is a tropical, lift the pot out of the pond and store it in a cool (not freezing), dark area of the basement.  The bulb will go dormant.  Keep the soil moist and you should be able to return the pot to the pond in the spring once the water temperature is over 65 degrees.  I hope this helps.
