Question
I HAVE A PLECOSOMUS IN MY POND AND IT SEEMS TO BE DOING VERY GOOD BUT I READ THAT THEY WILL EAT MY POND PLANTS IS THIS TRUE

Answer
Hi CJ,
Thanx for your question.  Plecostomus will not survive in areas where it gets cold.   I just thought I'd throw that in for general info.  You should remove the fish (if you want to keep it alive) before water temps fall below 60 degrees F.  Plecos are used to keep aquaria clean of algae and they are primarily algae eaters but as they get bigger they will eat some plant material. You may be able to steer them away from doing this if you supplement their diet with some zucchini or other summer squash slices.  I hope this helps.
