Pond Stocking Question

Question
My family recently added a waterfall, spillway pond, and other pond to our back yard. The spillway pond is about 30 gallons, but the fish I put in there chose to swim out of it and into the deeper pond. So right now we have a pre-formed 125 gallon pond with about 6 comet fish in it.

I thought that 6 would be a perfectly fine number, but now I am starting to worry. I have been told that comets can grow as large as 14 inches. Someone also said that an outside pond of 125 gallons is only good enough to keep 1 comet in it, and that I should have bought minnows instead.

Although my fish are very healthy and happy right now, I am worried that their health will be affected in the future. Is 6 comets too much for a 125 gallon pond?

Answer
Hi Dagan,
Thanx for your question.  Sorry so late in replying.  It will take a few years for your comets to get 14 inches long and crowded spaces tend to stunt a fish's growth too.  I think the 6 are fine and will be fine for a number of years.  I wouldn't add any more fish.  These fish will eventually spawn and produce thousands of babies in the coming years!  You'll have to remove them, but the parent will also eat some of them.  I hope this helps.
