Fancy goldfish pond

I recently bought two fairly large (around 6" body+ 4" tail) veil tailed goldfish expecting to put them in my pond in the spring.  Unlike I usually do before I buy a pet, I did not research this type of fish.  If I had I would not have gotten them because in 75% of the books/care pages I have read it says they cannot handle the winter weather ( in Long Island) Soon I won't have anywhere to put them since the tank that they are in now (55 gallon) is meant for tropical fish (I have some platties and I am planning on getting angels after I work out this goldfish problem).  So here we come to my question:  Which choice should I choose?  

1.  Put the goldfish in the pond with/ my 1 comet goldfish (the ponds around 200 gallons)  for the whole year
2.  Put the goldfish in the pond for the spring/summer/fall, and when its winter move them into a smaller 30 gallon tub pond which i could keep in the house
3.  Give away the goldfish.  

I would really rather not keep the goldfish in the 55 gallon tank.

PS I live in zone 6/7 and the pond would have a de-icer during the winter and most likely an aerator.

If the comet has no problem with the living situation, there should be no real problem with the fan tails.  They will be a little less hardy, but unless they are some of the really fancy fragile types, they should be fine.
