removing baby goldfish

Question
Hi - I have a Koi pond and made the mistake of letting my parents give me some of their extra goldfish from their pond.  Now I have about 50 babies in my 20' x 30' pond.  I would like to get rid of the goldfish babies (and eventually the all the goldfish) Is their any net system or tool that would enable me to do that without draining the pond and all that?

Answer
I'm afraid to get them all, you'll have to probably drain most of the pond.  I suggest just using dip nets to get them as you see them.  Get the large goldfish that are over 3" first as they will be able to breed come spring.  The little goldfish you can catch as you see them.  Goldfish are more prolific than koi as you've found.  They are also good at eating fish eggs and fry which may prevent your koi from having young.  My pond is mostly goldfish and just two koi.  There are fish traps that can get smaller fish but they will also catch small koi.  I'm pretty good at catching fish and with time could get most of the fish in my pond if I wanted to.  As long as there's no rush, you can take your time.  If you want 100% of the goldfish out right now, then you'll have to drain the pond and kick sceine it (a long net).

Good luck!
