Question
Hi i hope you can help me. I have a little wildlife pond in my garden, and there are heaps of frogsporn in there, there is also a newt in the pond and i heard that frogs and newts eat the frogsporn and tadpoles! I have now put all the frogsporn into a bucket with pleanty of water. Will it be able to survive? What should i do?

Answer
I have not heard of frogs and newts eating frog spawn (eggs).  They might eat a few but there are normally many eggs.  A single newt can only eat so many eggs.  Frogs normally just want to spawn now, not eat so much.  You can certainly raise the tadpoles in another small pond protected from predators.

My page at http://www.fishpondinfo.com/frog3.htm has a section on raising tadpoles.  It's about green frogs but should apply to other species.  If you have more specific questions, let me know.

Good luck!
