Winterizing a small pond

Question
My pond is approx. 2 to 2/12 feet deep. There are no fish and the plants have been taken care of elsewhere.  I have a soft liner.  How do I make sure it is winterized and future rains do not float my liner.  I live in Northeast Mississippi.

Answer
Hi Anne: I would leave the pond full of water, move the filter to the top 12 inches of the pond so that it breaks the water and add a deicer to the pond to keep it from freezing.  It should survive the winter just fine... You can also place a plastic tent over the pond to help keep the temperature up.  dave
