winter fish placement

Question
I live in Minnesota and drain my pond in early Nov and move my coi into a 100 Gal tank in the basement.  It has a pump and filter system to keep water  aireated and flowing thru a filter.  Most of the fish are smaller than 2 inches, (this years hatchlings)  and 18 from 3 years ago that are about 6-8 inches long. The water temp is around 60 degrees, the basement is dark at night and gets some sunlight during the day.  Should I be feeding the fish during the winter months.  If so what,  is there some vegetables that I can toss in to nibble on??  Is it ok to have some of the outside pond plants in the same water? I think what they are called some hog warts green plants in there now, they seemed to like that outside   Thanks

Answer
You should feed the koi during the winter months... I would feed them any of the green pellets that are available at the local fish store. You can also feed them Zucchini if you have them available.  Just make sure that whatever is not eaten with an hour is removed or it will foul your water.  Pond plants will be a good addition to your indoor tank as well but make sure they are getting adequate light.  dave
