Converting a Pond

Question
I have a question.  I would like to convert my pond to a pondless (shallow) one.  The current filter opening is about 10" X 14".  Can I fill in the pond with matrixes and rocks up to 14" to the top without any change to my current pump system.  This is just a shallow pond rather than pondless one.  Would it work?   Please reply to
Thank you so much for helping me!!!

Answer
Hello Max
Filling the hole with gravel could be a problem, depending on the size and power of your pump.
You will have much less water, due to the gravel replacing the volume and could run your pump dry in a jiffy.
Best to make the hole deeper, insert a pump vault and fill in around it.
