wine barrel fountain empties when power is off

My 2 tiered wine barrel fountain empties it's top barrel each night after we've turned the fountain off.  There are no leaks, and the water cascades well from top to bottom barrel when the pump is running.  When the plastic tube is not in the top barrel it does not seem to empty at night.  I am so confused!!

Hey Denice,if there is any tube at the top wine barrel going to the bottom gravity will cause it to go to the lowest place. Even if the tube is connected to a pump. Make sure the tube is not in the water at the top wine barrel but above the water level. If this doesn't answer your question send me a pic. Thanks Eric
