Answer
Hello Megan,

First of all, let me apologize for my untimely response time. It seems lately that with my low speed dial-up modem I've had a difficult time logging on lately.

Anyhow, I think a school of 6 bloodfin tetras would be a great choice of fish. Actually they are one of my favorite tetras.

The only downside to all tetras is that the chance of them breeding is very slim. Tetras are not impossible to sex, but difficult. The females tend to have a wider abdomen than your males and they also tend to be a bit larger. To ensure that you get males and females, buy more than just a few ... try 6 or more.

Now, your best bet of breeding is to wait for them to pair up (but this is also difficult since they all swim together) and then set up a specific breeding tank for the pair. You can read all about this online. Just go to any search engine and search for "breeding bloodfin tetras".

Good luck to you and your new addition,
Kelly
