I have 4 dwarf neon rainbow fish.  They have small 'pimple' looking things on their lips.  I describe it this way for lack of a better way of describing.  At first thought it was flex (columnaris), but now not so sure.  Fish are acting fine, eating fine.  No other syptoms except the 'pimple'  They don't appear fuzzy either.
Tank size 30 gal; set up for 6 months (Aug 03)

Hi Nancy;

How long have the fish had these spots?
Are the spots on the outside of the lips or more on the inside?
Is there any redness on or around them?

Let me know as soon as you can.......
Hi Chris, Fish have had spots approx. 3 to 4 weeks.  It only appears to be on the outside of the lower lip.  And no there is no redness whatsoever around them.

Answer
Hi Nancy;

Columnaris is kind of fuzzy and any infections would usually show other symptoms like redness. Watch them and see what they do. If they are some sort of disease they will change and you can then treat them. It is really hard for me to diagnose some things like this that I can't see. You might take the fish to your local fish store and see if it looks like a problem to them.

Followups welcome.
